Weeping to Joy

“…weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” –Psalm 30:5

I wanted to take a minute to share with you a Zacek family update.  Two Sunday’s ago Shelly and I lost our little peanut to miscarriage.  In his goodness the Lord orchestrated events so that we would be around Shelly’s family and have time off from teaching responsibilities.  As a result we have been able to go to the doctors, rest and cry together.  It is surprising how much your heart becomes attached to a child even at such an early age.  We have been comforted by many family and friends who have gone through similar experiences and can relate to the pain of this loss.  It is a joy to have such wonderful people in our lives who so willingly carry the load when we are weak.

Shelly is feeling well physically and the baby passed naturally so there was no need for any invasive medical procedure for which we are thankful.  The Lord is good and “His steadfast love endures forever.”  It has been a comfort to know that so many have been praying for us during this time and we are blessed to call so many wonderful people friend.

At the beginning of this time as we were crying together the Lord spoke Psalm 30:5 to my heart, “weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”  Like Jesus who “for the joy set before him endured the cross,” we too look to the joy of the Lord that is set before us and the day when we will get to meet our little peanut in heaven.

Last Sunday we were visiting my brother Russ’ church (http://www.churchaliveag.org/).  Jesus really ministered to my heart as they sang this song.  There’s one line that says, “when we arrive at eternity’s shore, where death is just a mystery and tears are no more, we’ll enter in and the bedding wells ring, altogether we will sing, You’re beautiful.”  We look forward to the day.

In addition this song was an encouragement and a reminder that many people are praying for us.  Special thanks to Lou Lenaghen for introducing it to us.
