Abiding Trust

In our service last Sunday there was a prophetic word shared about trusting in the Lord and finding our contentment in Him.  This morning as I was reading Psalm 33 I was reminded of the beautiful invitation that God presents to trust Him at all times.  Verses 18b and 19 say “those who hope in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.”  To have hope in those moments you have to face those moments.  If you are facing death or famine today I encourage you to put your hope in the only one who is unfailing.  Let the joy of the Lord be your strength and let the peace that passes understanding guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  One of the most precious gifts from God is His presence in the depths.   Many have friends in prosperous times, but a faithful friend who can find?

Our Lord will never leave us, nor forsake us.

Psalm 33:13-22

New International Version (NIV)
From heaven the Lord looks down
    and sees all mankind;

from his dwelling place he watches
    all who live on earth—

he who forms the hearts of all,
    who considers everything they do.
No king is saved by the size of his army;
    no warrior escapes by his great strength.

A horse is a vain hope for deliverance;
    despite all its great strength it cannot save.

But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
    on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,

to deliver them from death
    and keep them alive in famine.

We wait in hope for the Lord;

he is our help and our shield.

In him our hearts rejoice,

for we trust in his holy name.

May your unfailing love be with us, Lord,

even as we put our hope in you.
